Discover Taco Shop Miami Lakes

Walking into Taco Shop Miami Lakes feels like stepping into the kind of neighborhood diner people don’t want to gatekeep. I stopped by on a busy weekday afternoon, and even then the place hummed with locals grabbing lunch, families sharing baskets of chips, and a couple of delivery drivers waiting patiently by the counter. The location at 16010 NW 57th Ave Suite 138, Miami Lakes, FL 33014, United States makes it easy to reach whether you live nearby or you’re just passing through Miami Lakes and craving something bold and comforting.

The menu leans confidently into classic Mexican street food while still feeling approachable. Tacos are the obvious star, and for good reason. Corn tortillas are warmed to order, filled generously, and topped with fresh cilantro and onion that actually taste fresh, not wilted from sitting too long. I ordered carne asada and al pastor, two staples that tell you quickly whether a taco spot knows what it’s doing. The carne asada had a clean, grilled flavor with just enough char, while the al pastor carried that subtle sweetness from pineapple that balances the spice. It reminded me of a small family-run place I used to frequent in Southern California, where consistency mattered more than flash.

One thing that stood out was how the kitchen operates in full view. You can see meats being chopped, tortillas hitting the griddle, and plates coming together quickly but carefully. That transparency builds trust, especially in an era where diners care more about food handling and cleanliness. According to the CDC, visible food prep areas tend to increase customer confidence and perceived hygiene, which aligns with what many regulars mention in their reviews of this spot.

Beyond tacos, the menu includes burritos, quesadillas, and bowls that work well if you’re extra hungry or want something less handheld. A friend of mine swears by the chicken burrito here, noting that the rice-to-protein ratio is spot on, something many casual Mexican restaurants get wrong. Portion size is generous without feeling wasteful, which reflects a growing trend in the restaurant industry toward balanced servings. The National Restaurant Association has reported that customers increasingly value quality and satisfaction over sheer quantity, and this place seems to get that balance right.

Sauces deserve their own moment. Instead of drowning food in heat, the house salsas are layered and flavorful. The green salsa has a bright acidity that cuts through richer meats, while the red brings a deeper, smoky warmth. I overheard a staff member explaining to another customer that the salsas are prepared daily, which explains their freshness and consistency. Small details like that tend to separate average taco joints from memorable ones.

Service stays friendly and relaxed, even when the line stretches. Orders come out quickly, and questions about the menu are answered without attitude. That casual, welcoming vibe shows up often in online reviews, where people mention feeling comfortable bringing kids or stopping in solo. While it’s not a white-tablecloth experience, that’s exactly the point. It feels like a true local spot built for repeat visits.

Parking is straightforward, the dining area is clean, and takeout orders are packed carefully, which matters if you’re bringing food home. The only limitation worth noting is seating during peak hours, as it can fill up fast. Still, that’s usually a sign you’ve found a place doing something right. For anyone exploring taco options in Miami Lakes, this diner-style spot delivers flavor, consistency, and an easygoing experience that keeps people coming back.

  • This place is the best! So consistent, quick and yummy. I usually go late and they still always treat me so nicely. Will keep coming back here always! (Not the best pic but it HIT & their hot sauce is the BEST!!!)

  • Came for the first time on a Saturday afternoon to grab a quick lunch. This location is small and cozy with cute and inviting decoration. I’m not sure is this would be considered a authentic Mexican restaurant, but the food we had was really good. The service was also really good. We tried the shrimp, steak and Al pastor tacos. Which all 3 flavors were good. We also tried the wet steak burrito combo which came with taquitos and rices beans and other toppings. They also have frozen margaritas, orchatas and other juices and drinks.

  • Huge portions! If you order with your stomach beware! Awesome spot and love the options of sauces bananas I’m definitely a dipper! Love the fries dressed up as nachos. Can’t go wrong at all! I probably wouldn’t do the margarita again. A little too tart otherwise everything including the service was great!

  • I've been here a few times and everytime we get the Birria Tacos and the sample platter, both always sooo good! This Friday night we held our church youth small group here and the youth loved the food and the staff was super chill. Also the Friday special of chimichanga with rice and beans and a soda for under $12 is a great deal! Looking forward for the next time!
